Cody

Cody Whitlock

Cody grew up in Normal, IL. He found his love for choral music at a young age when he joined the Singing Y’ers Boys Choir. Throughout his years in the ensemble, Cody toured throughout the United States and much of Europe. In the fall of 1995, he began singing professionally with Opera Illinois. His time with the company was met with critical acclaim. In 2001, Cody met Aaron Siedband and Kyle Smith at the University of Illinois where he sang with them in the comedy octet The Other Guys. Since moving to Chicago in 2005, Whitlock has appeared in several national radio spots, however the majority of his musical focus has been with Fiveplay!

Aaron

Brian Siedband

Brian’s singing career began in high school, when he was selected to represent the Midwest in the All-American High School Grammy Ensemble, accompanying Kenny Loggins, Arturo Sandoval and All-4-One. During his four years at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Brian directed and performed with The Other Guys, where he met David Reeder and David Wagner. Notable performances include placing third at the 1996 National Championship of College A Cappella at Lincoln Center, opening for Grease! on Broadway, and opening for Clinton/Gore during their 1998 Urbana-Champaign visit. After college, Brian toured the Caribbean, Hawaii and South America as a singer aboard a Celebrity cruise ship. More recently, Brian was seen in Chicago productions of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding and West Side Story. Offstage, Brian writes commercials for a large advertising agency. Brian’s thrilled to be a part of Fiveplay, and proud to be performing with his little brother.

Brian

Aaron Siedband

Aaron Siedband is excited to be one sixth of Fiveplay. As a young boy of 6 years old, he was touted as the next ‘Michael Jackson’, by his parents. Aaron doesn’t know if they should have gone that far. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he is thrilled to be singing again in a professional setting. His past musical experience includes performing as a member and director of The Other Guys, singing backup for various Chicago bands, and singing on national advertising radio campaigns. As the director of the Other Guys, Aaron produced two albums, “Seven” and “Legacy” that feature a variety of his musical compositions. His passion for musical arranging has carried over to Fiveplay as well, with arrangements like ‘The Motown Medley’, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’, and ‘What’s Going On’. On the side, Aaron enjoys experimenting with songwriting, playing guitar, and spending time with friends and family.

Kyle

Kyle Smith

Kyle is very excited to be the newest member of the group, officially making “Fiveplay” a 6-man group, and destroying our credibility as mathematicians. He has been a part of choral and musical groups from a very young age, having the chance to tour much of the United States, England, and Scotland while still in high school. Kyle began singing a cappella with a men’s group in highschool, and continued that tradition at the University of Illinois as a member of The Other Guys. While with the Other Guys, Kyle performed for various academic and professional organizations across the country, and was a part of a tour of Italy, Germany, Austria, and France in May of 2000. His tenure in The Other Guys also included performance of national anthems at several professional sporting events, and a second place finish in the 2000 National Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Kyle is excited to be performing again, and honored to be a part of Fiveplay.

Dave

Dave Wagner

Dave Wagner has been performing professionally since childhood. While growing up, he would often perform with, and be a guest soloist for, Masterworks Chorale, St. Louis Bach Society and the St. Louis Symphony. Dave attended the University of Illinois where he majored in vocal performance. He spent two years performing with the a cappella group The Other Guys, where he met fellow Fiveplay members David Reeder and Brian Siedband. After graduating, Dave has performed with numerous musical groups around the Midwest performing at several large venues such as House of Blues. In 2003, Dave placed third out of nearly 5,000 people in a vocal competition held by a major radio station. In 2005, Dave entered yet another competition where he was crowned Chicago Idol. Dave currently performs with Fiveplay, is lead singer for the Chicago band 30 Helens, and has released several solo albums.

Reeder

David Reeder

David Reeder started singing a cappella with a quintet in high school that won best in state. He continued this style of music at the University of Illinois singing four years with The Other Guys. That group placed third in the National Championship of College A Cappella and was awarded best college a cappella album of the year. Since graduating, David has performed on dozens of professional choral recordings with The Morning Choir at 4th Presbyterian Church in Chicago, Chicago Choral Artists, The Schola Cantorum of St. Peter’s in the Loop, and the choir for the music of Advent Press. David is excited to be singing bass in Fiveplay. When David sings off microphone it is amazing to hear. When he sings with a microphone you feel it.
